Pixel 4 XL Vs. Samsung Galaxy S20+: Which should you buy

The latest by Samsung – the Galaxy S20 series – is out now. The flagship was announced at Galaxy Unpacked 2020. We can completely understand your dilemma since Google Pixel 4 XL has entered the market almost at the same time. So, which one is better overall? There are plenty of factors to consider here, including the camera, performance, and more.

    Design and Display

The Galaxy S20 has rounded edges and a sleek build featuring glass. While the S20 features very slim bezels, the phone supports relatively larger bezels, especially at the top for selfie lens and face-sensing tech. Regardless of the XL size of Pixel, the S20 Plus has the larger screen at 6.7-inches. With regards to sharpness and clarity, both of them stand at pretty much the same place. Both of them have glass bodies and an IP68-rating for dust and water-resistance.

    Performance and Battery

The Galaxy S20 Plus is powered by the Snapdragon 865 while Pixel 4 XL runs on Snapdragon 855. The former is naturally more powerful and faster as well. The S20’s processor is accompanied by 12GB of RAM whereas the Pixel has only 6GB RAM. With storage, the S20 offers 128GB with external 512GB. Pixel, on the other hand, only has 128GB of storage and no MicroSD card slot. The 4,500mAh battery on the Galaxy S20 Plus was welcomed quite enthusiastically while Pixel 4 XL only has a 3,700mAh. Although it is a good enough capacity, one would only be able to use it for a day or so before needing to charge it up again.

    Camera

Samsung has done a good job with S20’s camera. The Galaxy S20 Plus camera features a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, 64-megapixel telephoto lens, 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a time-of-flight depth-sensing lens. Its stunning Space Zoom feature comes with 30x hybrid zoom and A.I. stabilization. Additionally, there’s support for 8K videos. Coming to the Pixel phone, its dual 12-megapixel and 16-megapixel telephoto lenses are no less. Google’s Night Sight is second to none and lets you take gorgeous photos, regardless of what time of the day or night it is. Truly speaking, there is no real competition between Samsung and Google in this factor since both of them perform excellently.

    Software and Updates

The Galaxy S20 Plus features Android 10 with Samsung’s One UI 2.0 software. It is not too bad since it comes with tons of additional features and different customization elements. Pixel 4 XL features Pixel-specific Android 10 software. However, there’s not a lot that is different. While there is no denying that they are different, they both perform well and offer a good experience. If you are waiting for the Android 11 update, the Pixel 4 XL will receive it sooner than the Samsung’s S20 Plus.

Wrapping Up: Samsung Galaxy S20+ vs. Pixel 4 XL

While the Google Pixel 4 XL is an awesome phone in many aspects, it does have some drawbacks. Samsung S20 Plus features these drawbacks as its strengths. The S20 Plus has unbelievably thin bezels, a better battery, and excellent performance. While the Pixel is priced lesser than the S20, most users would be happy to spend a bit more to get better features.

Heard about the new Samsung Galaxy S20 series? Here’s all that you need to know about it.

    The S20 series

Samsung filed the ‘Super ISO’ trademark to the UK Intellectual Property Office on 31st January 2020. It indicated that the company is working on a night mode for its new phone. The trademark was later awarded to the company. Indeed, this trademark hinted that the S20 series will be one of the company’s most significant distinctions. The company introduced the trio of the series with the best camera, it ever had.

The trio includes S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra.

    More about ISO

If you are unaware about ISO, then let me tell you that it is a kind of setting that enables the determining of the sensitivity of the image sensor to light. Lower the ISO, less will be the sensitivity and vice-versa. This suggests that the company has made major changes in its camera and light.

Amping up the ISO setting helps you to take shots in darker environments. The new series will feature cameras with better low-light capturing.

    The Launch

The official launch of the phone took place on 11th February 2020. We can expect that the availability and delivery of pre-orders will be in the first week of March. Also, if you order S20+ or S20 ultra, you will get a pair of Galaxy buds free with it.

Camera with the Super Night Mode

The Galaxy S20 series offers a camera of 108 megapixels. It helps you get an absolutely sharp image that defines the smallest of the details. It also offers 10x hybrid optic zoom and 100x super-resolution zoom. Along with all the major changes in the camera, Samsung has introduced the Super Night mode, which is the boost to all the features and adds intensity to the camera. It improves the camera quality of Samsung Galaxy phones to a greater extent.

    Improvement in Night mode

The Super Night mode introduced by Samsung in its new S20 series has improved a lot. Firstly, when we look at the photos clicked from S10 and S20, we find major changes. The super night mode of Galaxy S20 camera finds a massive jump over the camera in Galaxy S10. We can find that the photos in Galaxy S20 are brighter and introduce sharper details.

The performance of a camera in low-light and night mode is an area where phones are really able to stand-out than the other companies. Samsung Galaxy S20 series has worked a lot on this. The other companies including Sony Xperia, Huawei, and Oppo have also introduced night modes and low-light cameras in the past.

    Conclusion

The introduction and launch of its night mode may lead to a big boost for Samsung. The Samsung Galaxy S10 had an ISO of 3200, and we are expecting that Galaxy S20 will reach up to ISO 6400. Not just the numbers, Samsung will find a great increase in its sales as well. Its price in India will be around Rs. 82,990.

Samsung Galaxy S20: News, Leaks, Release Date, Specs, and Galaxy S11 Rumours

Among all of Samsung’s Galaxy models, the S series has always been highly anticipated. While the S9 was a regular enough smartphone, the Galaxy S10 line-up brought something impressive into the market with its triple rear cameras and an Infinity-O design for the display. The series, in fact, even featured a budget model! In the next few months, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S20. One thing that might confuse you and other users is the fact that the company is not going ahead with the Galaxy S11 name.

What do we know so far?

We do know that the Galaxy S20 is likely to have three versions. The model’s design has already been revealed – more on this later! And we also know that it isn’t going to be called the S11! On the downside, the phone is expected to be priced higher. Samsung is planning to announce it on February 11, 2019. Last year’s flagship, the Galaxy S10 could still be a worthy option after the S20’s specs are released. We are not sure how the S20, although certainly a flagship, is likely to compete with the S10 in terms of specs, price, and value. It is going to be a tough job to beat the S10’s super-fast performance, stunning triple rear cameras, and a great display.

    The Different S20 Models

Most of the times in the past, Galaxy S series usually feature two releases with one regular model and another a Plus size variant. With S10, Samsung decided to do something outside the norm and released a third option, the S10e, touted to be a budget variant. Maybe the S20 will follow a similar pattern of release.

A couple of months back, Evan Blass, a popular tipster, shared three screen sizes for the different S20 variants. This includes a 6.4-inch, a 6.7-inch, and a 6.9-inch model. The following month, reports emerged that Samsung will no longer be manufacturing ‘e’ variants of its smartphones in 2020. Instead, the company is planning to release a regular version, a Plus model, and an Ultra variant. Basically, this means that we can look forward to seeing Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra 5G in the market quite soon.

    S20 Design and More

The Samsung Galaxy S20 is a bit different from the popular S10. The display will feature a punch-hole camera, located at the centre of the screen. This is pretty similar to the Note 10 model. With regards to the rear camera setup, the S20 will feature a vertical setting into of the horizontal one that we are used to. The phone has three camera sensors. The S20 Plus and S20 Ultra variants are known to have more. The S20+ is similar in design with the same punch-hole camera at the centre. At the back, we see an addition camera which could be a time-of-flight sensor. Coming to the S20 Ultra, the design stays the same, but the screen size is 6.9-inches. The rear camera features Samsung’s “100X Space Zoom” branding.

Among one of the first 2020 flagships, it is yet to be seen how it works out.
