Z Flip by Samsung and Motorola Razr make little sense for business

If you have been keeping up with the news, you may know that the Galaxy Z Flip by Samsung and the Razr smartphone by Motorola are both foldable smartphone models. Each is designed in an innovative manner. However, they have been priced a bit too high to warrant widespread sales. The Motorola Razr is set for a February release while the Galaxy Z Flip is scheduled to be launched sometime in March. While the name of the latter device is not yet confirmed, many sources mentioned that it could be named the Z Flip. Both of these smartphones are designed to fold along the x-axis, meaning you can fold them top to bottom.

The Galaxy Fold becomes a small tablet when you open it which is perfect for watching a movie or getting some information. You can multi-task on this easily and swap between several apps. When you close it, you will be able to use the Razr or the Z Flip as a smartphone. The idea behind this is dual functionality with a splash of swag.

The first Samsung foldable device was not received very well. It was mainly due to its delicate build and crease along the fold that made up the main criticisms. The premium price tag didn’t help matters either. Regardless, Samsung managed to make nearly half-a-million in global sales – something which is surprising and almost unheard of regarding first-gen innovations. For a brief moment, there might be some nostalgia about the Razr flip phone of the past. However, that is short-lived considering that the foldable model has priced triple the original model. While Samsung was among the first companies to come up with foldable smartphones, others in the industry have been quick to jump on the bandwagon. Microsoft is now planning to introduce the Surface Duo sometime later in 2020. While phones that open up to offer more screen lead to better productivity and is in most cases, very useful to the users. However, some consumers also enjoy using phones that fold up to become smaller versions of themselves. One way or the other, you can be sure that the foldable display tech is here to stay. With more companies working on it, we can sure that advancements on this tech will be rapid.

By now, the majority of people already know that Samsung is working on a second folding phone. This second phone has sparked a lot of rumors and enthusiasm as opposed to the previous model.

With these many rumors, it is hard to know what will actually make it to the final cut of release. Also, about what will be retained. All that is certain is that it is being worked on and if it goes by anything is going to be a clamshell design just like the much speculated Motorola Razr that is also set to launch this year.

Look, with this new tech kind of specs, you’d obviously expect the device to be a new kind of beast and that is just an understatement. If you look at what other companies are bringing onto the table with this kind of foldable devices.

This is just a phone to be admired people and there is just so much expectation that you can put into Samsung’s devices.

Mid last year, the company released its first foldable phone. I will be honest at first it had a lot of issues, but the company finally came back and redid the phone. They had eliminated the mistakes that they had earlier made. And now they are coming back with a complete foldable phone with improvements.

Galaxy Z Flip May Use Bendable ‘Ultra-Thin Glass’ Instead Of Plastic

There was a lot of speculations about the Samsung foldable glass display for its the Galaxy Z Flip. This device is the direct answer to the Razr by the company. Older reports suggested that Samsung’s upcoming clamshell smartphone, named the Galaxy Z Flip, will boast of a foldable glass display. The source of the leak was a popular tipster called the Ice Universe. He tweeted, “It can be confirmed that the Galaxy Fold2 leaked not long ago will use an ultra-thin glass cover for the first time in the world, replacing plastic materials.” Put in simple words, this means that Samsung has found something that is basically glass that can be folded. This is quite an achievement since almost all manufacturers of foldable displays use plastic since naturally, who can get a glass to fold?!

The New Innovation

The new glass cover is said to be flatter than plastic. It even has lesser ’wrinkles’ compared to regular plastic display covers generally used in foldable phones. Even the Galaxy Fold which is known for the crease on the screen used the latter option. Following this, another leak emerged from XDA Developers where Max Weinbach says that the Z Flip will use glass instead of plastic for its folding display. He is an XDA TV host who claimed that Samsung’s upcoming device will have the Samsung Ultra-Thin Glass on a Dynamic AMOLED display panel.

While glass will make sure that the display is likely to last longer and is more resistant to scratches, the use of glass makes it more vulnerable to breakage. As always, we are presented with two vices, forcing us to choose one. Samsung has apparently chosen to go ahead with glass, giving us better durability factor. It is up to us now to keep our devices safe and sound.

According to the leaks, we believe that the Galaxy Z Flip smartphone will support a 6.7-inch dynamic AMOLED screen and have either a 3,300 mAh or 3,500 mAh battery. The device is expected to have a 12MP camera as the main shooter and a 10MP sensor for selfies. Older reports tell us that the Z Flip model will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and feature 256GB internal storage. In addition to this, the phone will have Samsung’s One UI 2.1 on it.

Weinbach also mentioned that the smartphone will come with a capacitive fingerprint reader on the side. The phone will feature a wide angle and ultra wide angle lens. With regards to the battery, the phone will have 15W fast charging. Users would be able to charge it via both wired and wireless charging options. In terms of looks, the Galaxy Z Flip is pretty similar to a foldable Galaxy S10e.

Compared to Motorola’s Razr, the pricing is expected to be quite competitive and could possibly make Samsung fans very happy. However, the company is yet to officially launch the Galaxy Z Flip. While the day is not far off, fans are eagerly awaiting its release.
