The Challenges Tiktok Must Overcome To Stay On Top In 2020

    TikTok and its growth

Though it is very common, if you still do not know then, TikTok is an application available in Android, Windows, and iOS. People use it to create dance videos, lip-syncing videos and talent videos. People use it for fun and entertainment purposes. It is very popular and it seems like it will continue growing. But there are some challenges that TikTok needs to overcome to stay on the top in 2020.

    The challenges

The advertisements are the first thing that TikTok needs to focus on. The ads that the app displays must be authentic, safe and engaging. Since the youngsters cover the major part of TikTok users, the advertisements must be influential in a good way.

The second thing that TikTok needs to overcome is safety. TikTok must ensure the safety and security of data and other assets of its users. It is very important to earn the trust of the users in order to stay at the top.

Updates and changes in the application are the last challenges that TikTok will face in its way to the top position. The company must make continuous updates and improvements to its application to ensure better functioning and working of the application.

    Conclusion

TikTok is a very famous application, but to stay on the top it will have to overcome three challenges in the near future. These include safety, authentic advertisements and continuous improvements.

  • Ban On TikTok Inside The Golden Temple

Ban On TikTok Inside The Golden Temple

TikTok is a household name these days. Every second person makes funny and musical videos on TikTok. TikTok is a Chinese application that enables video-making and sharing with music. It specializes in videos made with lip-syncing, music and dance. In the past few years, TikTok has become very famous in India. Almost everyone loves making videos on TikTok. It is available both on iOS and Android for free.

    No TikTok inside Golden Temple

As much as it is popular for its fun, it also garners a lot of criticism. People are indulging in TikTok videos to such an extent that they forget the right place and the right time to make such videos. People say that the TikTok videos are more cringy than funny. There’s nothing wrong with the app, but it’s the users who are not using it appropriately. A similar case happened with the Golden Temple.

    Ban on TikTok

A few days ago, three girls put a dance video on TikTok whose shoot was in Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden temple). Several people had an objection to the video. As a result, SGPC interference in the matter took place. SGPC ( Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee) put a ban on TikTok, videos, and selfies inside the Golden Temple. They put up a notice asking people not to make TikTok videos and take selfies in The Golden Temple.

The notice also says that there is a complete prohibition on TikTok in the temple. SGPC Management has also put up volunteers in the Temple to prohibit people from taking selfies and making TikTok videos. They appeal to people to refrain from any such activities in the temple.

Also, the management says that if people do not stop making these videos inside the temple, they will have to ban the usage of mobile phones. The action is very strict and everyone has to follow it willingly or not.

Why SGPC put a ban on TikTok?

SGPC (Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee) says that they want people to come to the temple and worship there instead of making videos. They say that they want people to visit without any kind of hassle. According to them, they are not in favor of such bans, but due to the recent events on TikTok, they have to do it.

The video by the three girls was a music video. A Punjabi song was playing on in the background and they were dancing on it. It went viral, due to which SGPC’s interference took place. The video was from the Darbar Sahib Complex. FIR filing was done against the three girls for hurting religious sentiments. Due to which the girls had to apologize.

    At the end

SGPC ban on TikTok was a forceful decision. The management says that they do not want to put such bans but they have no choice. If people continue making such videos and taking photographs, they may ban the complete use of mobile phones inside the Temple.

All kinds of TikTok, Photography, and Videography have got a complete ban with a strict warning.

  • Tiktok App Livestreamed- A User’s Suicide

Tiktok App Livestreamed- A User’s Suicide

This incident happened on 21st February 2019, when João, a 19-year-old young vlogger from Brazil, live-streamed his suicide through the Tik-Tok application. The event took place at about 3:23 pm, and the video remained live for about one and a half hours with the visual of the dead body.

    Tiktok Livestreamed- A User’s Suicide

TikTok app was the fourth most downloaded application in the world in 2019. The TikTok office became aware of the incident at 5:00 pm. The company waited for about three hours before relaying the matter to the police. From about 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, the company worked rapidly to make sure that the incident does not catch any media attention to defame the image of the company.

Instead of immediately informing the authorities and the family of the teenage boy, TikTok Brazil office made sure that the news does become a potential “viral” subject. The officials also instructed to ensure that the story does not get exposure on other platforms, even by chance.

The company did not take any responsibility, and the Official chose to remain anonymous.

Suicide Cases History Through Social Media Apps

Such an incident was not the first one on this app or any other social media app in the generic sense. Previously, two reports of suicide recordings through the TikTok app took place in India also. Due to this, the court had attempted to ban this app in the Indian subcontinent but it did not happen.

Other apps have proper screening policies relating to such incidents that seem to be missing from TikTok.

    Risks Involved

Suicide is a grave issue and one of the major causes of death among young people. The human tendency of copying can add to the severity of this issue. The copycat syndrome can spread impacts of suicide in the community hence, leading to an upsurge in such incidents.

Even the World Health Organization has warned against this copycat syndrome and advised the officials of such applications to make strict and effective guidelines towards these.

Young, depressed individuals, going through mental issues more prone to the ill-effects of such incidents.

    Endnote

There was no media coverage to that identified this matter. The company was more concerned about its image and market and did not feel responsible for even informing the family members of the teenager! The body was shown to live for more than an hour. Hence, there is a question – how can a company allow live -streams of more than an hour long.

The news did not go viral, and the company did not face any defamation. So, what does this tell us about the whole scenario? That a company only cares about its reputation and image and the life of the individual is not of that much value.

What we need to do is, check on our friends, family or other members of society if they show any danger signs. João had previously posted some suspicious messages before conducting such an act in front of the whole world. And even when the incident had happened, no action took place for a long time.
