Xiaomi Unveiled What Might Just Be The Best Camera Phone & The Best Cheap Phone, Ever!

Xiaomi recently revived its inactive line of smartphones in the Note range with the Mi Note 10, and this phone may very well be the best camera phone, ever. Although launched shortly after the iPhone Pro 11 Max, Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and Huawei P30 Pro, all of which are amazing smartphones with world-class camera features, it seems like the Mi Note 10 could give these phones a run for their money with its best yet camera.

Xiaomi Unveiled What Might Just Be The Best Camera Phone & The Best Cheap Phone, Ever!

The smartphone maker launched the Mi Note 10 at an event in Madrid, Spain along with the Redmi Note 8T, which also seems to be a powerful smartphone in its own right. In this launch, some key features, as well as design and display specifications, were revealed.

    Features

Coming to the features of the Mi Note 10, it is the first smartphone to use a whopping 108 MP main sensor, thus guaranteeing never-before-seen photography capabilities from a smartphone. This metric puts it ahead of other smartphones such as iPhone, Google Pixel and Samsung which all use 12 MP. That’s a resolution that is 9 times more than the best smartphones available today.

With this feature, users can click pictures with over 100 million pixels without, in any way, compromising on the quality. The 108 MP main sensor is accompanied by a 5 MP telephoto lens for 5x optical zoom, a 12MP telephoto snapper for portrait clicks and 2x zoom, a 20 MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro shooter. Yes, there are 5 cameras on the rear and one image sensor on the front.

Phew! That’s a whole lot of features packed into one phone. But, there is more to this phone than just its camera features. It also sports a 5,260 mAh battery power-packed with 30W fast-charging capabilities, making it the biggest ever battery in a Xiaomi phone.

It also boasts of a captivating display with an AMOLED panel and a curved-edge display along the lines of Samsung Galaxy S10 and some other premium smartphones. An in-display fingerprint sensor is also on the cards, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack at the base of the handset.

    Other Details

Rumour has it that this smartphone will come with two configurations – a 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and an 8GB RAM + 128 GB storage. However, there will not be an option of expandable memory. Although the smartphone maker is yet to confirm this. Industry hearsay says the chipset that will power this phone is a Snapdragon 730 series processor.

So does this make Xiaomi Mi Note 10 a heavyweight smartphone with premium features and an affordable price tag? Is it all set to take the smartphone market by storm? Well, we won’t be surprised if it does.

This smartphone is slated for launch first in Poland and then other geographies. It comes in white and green colors in its first editions. There is no word on it’s India launch however, we do know that smartphone users will be waiting for it’s launched with bated breath.

  • Samsung Galaxy A50 Update Improves Fingerprint Sensor

Samsung Galaxy A50 Update Improves Fingerprint Sensor

Users of the Samsung Galaxy A50 have complained of repeated issues with the smartphone’s fingerprint sensor with the company trying to rectify the same with various updates in the past. The update comes with build number A505FNXXS3ASK9 aiming to rectify the fingerprint algorithm for the latest Galaxy smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy A50 Update Improves Fingerprint Sensor

Reports suggest that the Korean tech giant has again rolled out an update shortly along with the heels of one around a week earlier, in the attempt to iron out issues with the fingerprint sensor.

This update, which is being currently introduced across some European countries, also brings with it the November Android security patch.

If rumors are to be believed, the update does nothing to fix the fingerprint woes and in fact, worsens the problem for the users of the Samsung Galaxy A50 smartphone.

The optical in-display fingerprint reader on the Galaxy A50 along with other mid-range Galaxy phones is not all that promising. Despite multiple attempts from the smartphone maker to fix the issue, it remains slow and inaccurate.

The new update’s changelog states that it improves the user experience of the fingerprint sensor and does away with the various problems that users are facing regarding this feature of the Galaxy A50 smartphone. The changelog also features a mention of the arrival of the November security patch for the Galaxy smartphone.

This 117.21 MB update is currently available only in select European countries that include Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and Switzerland among a few others. The Samsung Galaxy A50 update can be downloaded from the ‘Software Update’ section of the phone’s Settings app.

In order to download the said update, users of the Galaxy A50 smartphone have been advised by the company to erase the existing fingerprint data and re-register their on the phone after installing the new update.

This instruction has created a buzz in the industry about whether the A50’s optical sensor is affected by the same flaw as in the case of Galaxy S10 and Note 10’s ultrasonic in-display fingerprint.

There have been no official reports of the Galaxy A50 suffering similar problems as that of the Galaxy S10 and Note 10. Perhaps, the smartphone tech giant is only being cautious with the A50.

While it appears that this update has been rolled out to Samsung A50 users in India earlier this month, it has brought about more issues with the fingerprint sensor than before. The Korean smartphone manufacturer is yet to comment on this.

“There have been numerous complaints and grievances shared by the users of the Samsung Galaxy A50 on Twitter and the official Samsung community forum regarding the malfunctioning fingerprint sensor.”

While in some situations, users have faced the problem of the sensor not working at all. For some others, the sensor does not register their fingerprints despite repeated trials.

It would be great to see this current update solve all grievances of the Galaxy A50 smartphone regarding the speed and the accuracy of the fingerprint sensor.

  • Huawei Mate X Goes On Sale In China & Sells Out First Batch In Minutes

Huawei Mate X Goes On Sale In China & Sells Out First Batch In Minutes

The first bunch of Huawei Mate X foldable phones finally opened its doors to buyers by going on sale in China on the 15th of November, 2019 and received a raving response by reportedly selling out in minutes.

    Huawei Mate X

Originally announced in February 2019, at MWC 2019, the phone was to be launched in the summer of 2019 by Huawei in China. This foldable phone was then slated for a September release in 2019. However, it got delayed until October when the smartphone maker finally started taking orders for the coveted Mate X.

The phone finally released in November 2019 at the price of 16,999 Yuan, which roughly translates to $2,495 or AUD $ 3,559. During this sale window, buyers were also reportedly given a 50 percent discount for screen repairing or replacing, as reported by BBC.

While a second batch of the Huawei Mate X is all set to hit the Chinese market on November 22, there is no word on the number of phones to be made available for sale this time around, just like in the first round of sales.

The smartphone maker is yet to comment on whether and when this coveted smartphone will be released in other markets and geographies. But, one thing is for certain. Public interest in foldable smartphones is still very much intact.

Is Huawei’s Future In Foldable Smartphones?

With the launch of the Mate X foldable phone, it is clear that Huawei is treading the same path as other smartphone makers in introducing foldable phones. Moto Razr also joined the foldable phone bandwagon, announcing foldable display technology for its flagship Razr flip phone, which is all set for a December 2019 release.

Huawei pushed back the release of the Mate X foldable phone after Samsung abandoned its Galaxy Fold range of phones after its April 2019 launch citing durability issues. Samsung was the first smartphone maker to tap into the foldable smartphone space.

While Huawei did not give any substantial reasons for the corporate’s postponement of the Mate X, speculation was doing the rounds whether Huawei too faced similar issues of reliability like Samsung or were they just looking to stall their release in order for the public sentiment on foldable phones to rise again.

The foremost delay for the Mate X came from the ban of Huawei from the US. As this ban had not been repealed but only temporarily revived, it does not look likely then that the Huawei Mate X will release in the United States.

The smartphone maker does confirm that the Mate X range of phones will be launched in other geographies besides China, according to BBC.

While there is little clarity on when that can happen, what we do know is that the successor of the Mate X has already been revealed, which is the Huawei Mate Xs. This smartphone will sport the latest Kirin 990 chip, although information on its release date is undisclosed yet.

  • Powerbeats Pro: The Best Wireless Earbuds For The Gym

Powerbeats Pro: The Best Wireless Earbuds For The Gym

Every music-listening gym-goer looks for three main features in their headphones – a comfortable fit, long battery life, and great sound.

Powerbeats Pro The Best wireless Earbuds for the Gym

With the recent boom in the availability of wireless earbuds and the advances in wireless technology, it is not difficult to find a pair of high-quality wireless earphones online.

One of these products happens to be the Beats Powerbeats Pro. Beats, known for the punchy bass in their products, revamped their existing sport-focused Powerbeats and turned them into a set of truly wireless earphones perfect for gym-goers and runners.

The older Powerbeats had a cable, that dropped down from the earbuds, wrapping around the back of the user’s neck. The cable has wholly disappeared, giving the new Powerbeats a fresh look.

Presentation-wise, the Powerbeats are unmistakably premium. The earphones come in a sturdy, black-colored charging case, which is super satisfying to snap open and shut.

The case feels solid and has the right amount of weight to it, and thanks to its magnetic catch, there are no chances of the case accidentally opening and your earphones dropping out.

The concept itself isn’t new – the case doubles as a battery pack for the earphones, that begin recharging when they’re slid back into the case.

    Powerbeats Pro -Charging

On a full charge, you can expect the Powerbeats to last up to nine hours. The case carries a large battery – storing roughly two more full charges worth of power.

The user has a total of about 24 hours of use on fully charging the case and the earphones.

Charging the case is easy and fast, using the USB-A to Lightning cable provided in the box.

The case of Powerbeats Pro is significantly larger than the pocket-sized Apple AirPod Pros’ case. Many users find it a bit too chunky to fit into the jeans pocket or jacket pocket.

Nonetheless, since the Powerbeats are designed to be used primarily during exercise sessions, you’ll find yourself putting the case away in your bag anyway.

Let us further evaluate the performance of the Powerbeats Pro by considering the three most important metrics that gym-goers look at – sound quality, comfort, and battery life.

    Sound Quality:

The products by Beats have a history of exhibiting exemplary bass, and there’s no change in that trend. The Powerbeats Pro will give you the full experience of the classic ‘Beats’ bass.

When listening to music from lower quality streaming services, too, the total bias is perfectly acceptable.

At average volumes, the presentation is clear and smooth. Turning the volume up makes the presentation of the music a touch too aggressive.

The detail in the sound the Powerbeats produce is decent – pushing the emotion behind the vocals and the resonance from each guitar strum perfectly.

However, the performance of the earphones underwhelms when used during an exercise session.

The Powerbeats Pros lack dynamic range – making the intense sound like a weak pitter-patter. The heavy thumps don’t demand attention, and music sounds fizzled out.

When the thundering bass kicks in on any track, the output as a whole is astonishingly soft and inaccurate.

The rival Sony WF-1000XM3 does a much better job. The Sonys recreate an excellent balance and timing. On the other hand, the Beats make a messy noise out of the same track.

Even with the powerful bass, the overall sound performance is plain bad. The Beats lack the authority, and the punch users expect out of a Beats product.

    Powerbeats Pro- Controls

    Comfort:

The Beats Powerbeats Pros do not compromise on comfort. The earphones come with rubber-clad hooks that supply a secure fit.

The Powerbeats are available in black, ivory, navy and moss (green) colors.

The earphones sit perfectly on the side of your head, and the adjustable and bendable ear hooks supply all the grip one would need when working out, making them a dream to wear.

As you work out, the earphones do not move from their position. They are snugly-fit to your ears, and thanks to their water and sweat-resistant design, they stay super comfortable throughout the workout.

The earphones never get hot or slip, and come with four different sized ear tips in the box, making the earphones comfortable for all users.

With the battery life, sound quality, and the comfort factor out of the way, considering the ease-of-use and sturdiness of the earphones as a package should reveal more about them.

    Build Quality:

There’s more to any pair of earphones than just the comfort and sound quality they supply. What matters a lot during intense workout sessions are the controls on the earphones.

The Powerbeats have two controls (on each earpiece) – one in the shape of a volume rocker switch, and the other being the Beats symbol itself.

These controls unlock loads of features that you’d need mid-workout.

Tapping on the volume rocker will adjust the volume. The beats button is super versatile – you can use it to play/pause music and receive calls with a single tap.

Double-tapping skips the current track, and a triple-tap goes back one song.

Fast-forwarding and rewinding is also simple – users must hold down these double and triple-taps.

Since the controls are available on both the earphones, they’ll help you sift through your playlist without touching your phone regardless of if you’re left- or right-handed.

Another impressive feature of the Powerbeats Pros is the use of proximity sensors. Taking them off for just a moment results in pausing the music.

Put them back on, and the playback begins again.

    Pros and Cons

    Pros:

    • Flawless control system
    • Great battery life
    • Amazing comfort and fit

    Cons:

    • Audio lacks authority
    • Limited dynamic range

The Powerbeats Pros are among the best wireless earphones in the market. They boast a reliable build quality, have great controls, and are super comfortable.

However, the audio quality is underwhelming and will annoy users that expect super-rich, punchy music as they exercise.

If you’re looking for wireless earphones that last super long and are easy to control, these are the right earphones for you.

However, if you consider yourself an audiophile, steer clear of the Powerbeats Pros.
