    Moto Razr 2019 – Review

Since ages, Motorola has been one of the best manufacturers for phones. Beginning with the portable cellular phone back in 1993-’94, to the foldable phones in 2000’s and innovative smartphones now, Motorola has come a long way.

    Moto Razr 2019 – Review

Once again, it is trying to bring back the old fashioned flip-over foldable phones into the market. It is an iconic, nostalgic design of smartphones that stands out from the rest.

The very new Moto Razr 2019 is the latest launch by Motorola.

Without any adieu, let us discuss in-depth the various features of the phone, its pros, and cons and why you should buy or not buy this unique smartphone.

    Design

Lavishly designed into a sleek and shiny device, the Moto Razr 2019 does not disappoint you with its outlook. Bringing back the old design of a flip-flat top, which locks itself in a fold at the bottom, this phone raises the bar in terms of a classic look. When folded, the phone has a size that perfectly fits the palm.

It is a full-sized smartphone which can be folded into a miniature when you are traveling or for one-hand use. It is elaborately designed with a small front screen on the top, which favors lesser opening and more glancing for a quick check on your phone.

The central mechanism of the phone is sturdy, which can sometimes make it difficult to open with one-handed use. The phone opens up to a full-fledged smartphone with a screen no bigger than that of the Apple iPhone 11.

The top display of the phone is a little popped out, which can be a reason for concern even though it comes with a nanocoating water-resistant feature.

The front has a metallic black glass finish with a small quick display. The rear camera becomes a front faced one when you fold the phone. The fold at the bottom, like the old Motorola phones, is mainly to house the various attributes. Like the antennas, USB-C port for charging, speakers, and also a front-facing fingerprint sensor.

There is no slot for expandable memory or secondary SIM cards. It does not have a headphone jack as well.

    Display

When you unfold the phone, the display extends itself into a 6.2-inch comprehensive view. It has a pOLED HD screen with a resolution of 2142×876 pixels and a 21:9 aspect ratio.

We have to agree that not everything we watch today is widescreen 21:9 content. So, it can be disappointing to see the black bars when you are trying to watch a Netflix favorite.

The front screen, on the other hand, is a 2.7-inch 96×80 digital color LCD screen with a resolution of 800×600 pixels. The screen supports a ‘smile for shutter’ feature, which takes a photo when you smile. Alternatively, you could also tap the screen and press the volume button for a quick selfie.

    Camera

With a 16MP rear camera, the Moto Razr is somewhat lagging in the race for cameras that the new-age smartphones hold. In the context of filling all the features in a single frame, the Moto Razr lacks any extra features like quad-lens.

The camera is very simple and has a menu for basic or night photography, videos, and other modes like a panorama.

It also has a 5MP front camera, which is placed at the top of the front-facing display screen.

    Performance

The Moto Razr 2019 is packed with Snapdragon 710 chipset, which runs on Android 9 Pie. Motorola has very carefully selected lesser than the most advanced chipset (Snapdragon 855). It is only because the better the chipset, the more battery it will drain.

Given the design and compact shape of the Moto Razr 2019, having the latest chipset would not be a great move. Motorola has forever had its signature gestures, and this phone is no exception in that. You can use the gestures both when the phone is open or closed. Like shake the phone for flashlight or wiggle the phone for an instant camera, these are features most Motorola dedicated users love.

    Battery

A major fallback of the Moto Razr 2019 is the battery capacity. It comes with a mere 2710mAH battery, which is a definite compromise with the quality of the phone. Even though Motorola claims that the phone battery lasts all day, we are quite not sure if that is real.

When browsed all day with various media-activities or GPS, we are a little doubtful about the capacity of the battery to hold. If you are looking to experiment with the phone you use, the Moto Razr 2019 will be a somewhat right pick. Although the design makes you fall for it, the specifications of the phone are quite short on expectations.

The hinge design is one nostalgic one, but to pay the price only to be disappointed with the features is not a choice at all.

Huawei Mate X Phone Getting a Refresh at MWC 2020; Kirin 990, Improved Hinge

The Huawei Mate X Phone has been available in China for a while now – but rumors about a Kirin 990 equipped model have been making rounds on the internet.

Huawei Mate X Getting a Refresh at MWC 2020

Huawei briefly showcased its Huawei Mate X Phone back in October. While the Mate X hasn’t arrived in many markets around the world, the company confirmed the launch of the Mate Xs equipped with the more powerful Kirin 990 processor that supports 5G.

The phone is scheduled for launch in March 2020.

Huawei Consumer Business CEO Richard Yu confirmed that the new Mate Xs would feature the Kirin 990 chipset, a better hinge, and a super durable screen in an interview session with the members of the press in Shenzhen.

In the interview, he also stated that the foldable would be announced officially at MWC 2020 in Barcelona, which left fans guessing when between February 24 and 27 will they receive the news officially.

It remains unclear if the upcoming Mate Xs are the same as the previously teased Mate X, or Huawei will surprise us will a whole new device. It looks like we’ll have to wait for more details from Huawei.

The Mate Xs will probably inherit its design from the Mate X, but the phone is expected to boast new hardware.

The Kirin 990 features a 7nm FinFET Plus EUV node manufactured by TSMC. It has an 8-core CPU – with a Cortex-A76 clocked at 2.86GHz, which is twice as big, two middle Cortex-A76 clocked at 2.36GHz, and lastly, four small Cortex-A55 clocked at 1.95GHz.

The Kirin 990 boasts a powerful Mali-G76 GPU. The Kirin 990 packs an integrated 5G modem, which will bring the next-generation connectivity standard to the Mate Xs.

Huawei hasn’t revealed anything as of yet, and fans will have to wait and watch.

As for the design of the last iteration, the OLED display of Huawei’s Mate X folds outwards – giving users the option to use it in three distinct styles.

There are two independent smartphone screens, sized 6.6-inches, and 6.38-inches, respectively.

The final display supplies an 8-inch tablet-style form factor. A similar design is expected from the Mate Xs as well. Huawei’s Kirin 980 processor powers the currently available Mate X. It comes with 512GB internal storage, paired with 8GB of RAM.

    Other Features and Hardware

The Mate X also boasts three Leica-tuned cameras and packs two batteries, which entail a total battery capacity of 4,500mAh.A large battery calls for the use of fast charging – which the Mate X supports. It comes with a 55W charger in the box. The Mate X is also 5G-ready courtesy Huawei’s Balong 5000 modem.

In August, a Mate X device surfaced on China’s TENAA database, including images hinting at subtle changes over what was unveiled at MWC earlier this year.

The phone was listed with the model number “Huawei TAH-AN00” and appeared to have tweaked button placements and an improved hinge structure.

If all goes well, Huawei should remain one of the key players in the foldable device space – especially with all the hype surrounding a rumored Samsung Galaxy Fold 2.

    #1 Borderlands 3

One of the most promising games for 2019, Borderlands 3, is an action role-playing shooter video game. This first-person shooter game was developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games.

In the previous version of this game, Borderlands 2 was launched in 2012. The new release in the series is a sequel to it and is considered to be the fourth main entry to the series overall.

The game can be played in three editions which are the standard, deluxe and super deluxe editions. In this game, a player can team up with up to 3 more friends online to create mayhem for the ultimate gaming experience.

    #2 Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2

A fighter role-playing video game which adds to the Dragon Ball franchise. It was developed by Dimps and later published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a sequel to the Dragon Ball Xenoverse, which was launched back in 2015.

In this video game, the gamers battle through a chain of moments from the very series and time travel to relive the Dragon Ball story. The main aim of the game is to protect the iconic moments from the series. As you time travel, learn new techniques to defeat your rivals and gain more power. This online game can be played with friends.

There’s more coming our way with Google promising to bring in four new games in 2020. Few of the most awaited games are in the list like the Cyberpunk 2077, Watch Dogs: Legion, Gods and Monsters, and Doom Eternal.

It has also come in the news that Stadia Founder’s Edition users will additionally receive a holiday surprise along with a Buddy Pass. This Buddy Pass can be shared with a friend or family so that they may experience Google Stadia themselves.

Hence, with the Buddy Pass, your friend gets a three-month free use of the Stadia Pro version.

    EE's Switches On 5G Network

  • Apollo Max Review: Is It Worth Buying?

Apollo Max Review: Is It Worth Buying?

Graphene has been in the news and dangled in front of tech enthusiasts for well over a decade now.

It’s meant to be a new, magical material that will solve all our energy storage problems. Nonetheless, it has somehow stayed out of consumer products.

Apollo Max Review: Is It Worth It

However, it has now slowly begun to percolate down into products that the average consumer can buy – like this power bank from Elecjet.

The Apollo Max is a portable charger made by Elecjet, a Chinese company. The company promises a 10,000mAh (37Wh) capacity, 100W charging, and 60W discharging.

The most astounding claim is the 19 minute recharge time – which unfortunately turns out to be false.

Design-wise, the Apollo Max is not exactly the sleekest power bank you can find. It looks a bit like a brick, weighing 373g with the dimensions 155 x 76 x 24mm.

The bottom and the top of the device have a soft plastic finish that almost feels like fabric. It does give it a nice feel but does not make it look like any less of a brick.

Both its ports, a USB Type-C, and a USB Type-A are embedded on a single side, together with a seven-segment display that indicates the remaining charge.

A button located on the side activates the display.

The device also has two lightning bolt lights that light up when the battery is either charging or discharging at over 5V.

The bolts indicate the amount of power the device might be using and leave a wide potential range.

The power bank is enormous considering its capacity – it looks like it might hold at least 20,000mAh. Part of the reason behind its size may be the significant input (100W) and output(60W) power it supports or may have to do with the new graphene cells used in the battery.

Elecjet claims that the graphene cells in the device help it stay cool even when a super high current is passed through it. Also, the power bank supposedly will last up to three times longer than other power banks.

The Apollo Max is too expensive for the features it offers. Another issue with the device is the loose USB-C port. Cables refuse to stay seated or fit the port snugly enough for it to charge the connected device.

For any power bank, let alone a power bank this expensive, a loose USB port is not acceptable.

Spec-wise the power bank is one of the best on the market, but it lacks execution. Its way too expensive and has significant quality control issues.

Before you buy it, make sure you weigh out the pros and cons.

    Pros:

      • Excellent output (60W!)
      • Fantastic input (100W!)
      • Does not heat up
      • Compatible with all devices

    Cons:

      • Huge size
      • The indicator isn’t accurate
      • Recharging takes between 30-40 minutes, not the advertised 15 minutes
      • Low capacity for the price
      • Quality control issues

    Should you buy it?

Buying the Apollo Max isn’t recommended. The technology is still in its development stages and needs a lot more polishing before it becomes mainstream. Find out another good power bank here.

  • WhatsApp Update: Three New Features Of Whatsapp

WhatsApp Update: Three New Features Of Whatsapp

WhatsApp is the favorite messaging platform enjoyed by millions of users all over the world. It is catering to requests of upgrades and feature enhancements from users. WhatsApp recently rolled out three important updates that both Android users as well as iPhone users can reckon with.

    Three New Features Of Whatsapp

While these updates have not substantially overhauled the application, it has certainly added features that have been long-sought to make the application more intuitive.  Here’s a look at what these three WhatsApp updates have in store.

    WhatsApp Call Waiting

WhatsApp is getting common to make phone calls across its users. Also, these phone calls are certainly a convenient feature for the users. However, in the current version of WhatsApp, there is no form of intimation or alert if you are on one WhatsApp call. Hence and you can’t receive another call parallelly from another contact. A missed call alert would flash only when you are done hanging upon your current call.

The recent updates of WhatsApp now offer a call waiting option. Now a user on a call will be intimated of another call coming in alongside a notification at the top of their device. A user thus has the option of declining the incoming call or ending the current call to answer the new incoming call.

This current upgrade, however, does not offer the option of putting one call on hold to answer another. There is hope that WhatsApp will introduce the basic feature of call hold in the coming updates.

    WhatsApp Group Chat Invites

WhatsApp users all through the past and current versions have been added to WhatsApp groups without any prior intimation or consent. Finally, in the current WhatsApp update, users have the discretion to select those contacts who can and can’t add them to group chats.

This segmentation can be done using three options available in the settings of the new upgrade. They include:

      • Everyone
      • My contacts
      • My contacts except

As the names suggest, choosing everyone will allow even those individuals to add you to groups who are not part of your contacts list. This way you can block out-group advertisements and promotional WhatsApp groups initiated by strangers.

Going with ‘My Contacts’ will enable only those users whose number you have saved in your contact list can add you to groups. Finally, if you wish to exclude a certain few from your contact list from adding you to WhatsApp groups, use the ‘My Contacts Except’ feature option. These options are available on the Account-Privacy-Groups path in your settings menu.

    WhatsApp Reminders

WhatsApp update is one of the much-waited things for users. Nothing works as well as a message when it comes to daily reminders for your to-do list! You no longer have to rely on friends messaging you with WhatsApp’s all-new reminders feature. Any.do is a popular reminders application that is used by over 10 million users worldwide and the latest WhatsApp update can now be synced with your favorite messaging application.

What this facilitates is setting a reminder for tasks to be done by you on Any.do. At the designated time fixed by you, you will receive a message on your WhatsApp in your ongoing conversation window with Any.do reminding you to execute the task. This service, however, comes at a cost of $5.99 per month at a flat rate no matter your usage or your geographical location.

    Conclusion

Can’t wait to enjoy these new features? Upgrade your existing WhatsApp from the Google Play Store or the iPhone App Store. These features are available for both Android and iOS smartphones.

The Outer Worlds DLC Announced For 2020

Although much hasn’t been divulged yet. Obsidian Forums confirmed the rolling out of story DLC in 2020. This announcement came along the lines of the social media manager of the brand, Shyla Schofield. While she thanking the fans and the team behind the game. The acknowledgment of the four nominations received by The Outer Worlds in The Game Awards.

Although the game had little luck in bagging any award, Schofield said, “even just being nominated means a lot.” Schofield continued, “However, the journey isn’t over yet as we are excited to announce that we will be expanding the story through DLC next year! Details will be made available at a later date.”

The Outer Worlds certainly had some pretty stiff competition across all nomination categories from other stellar games released during the year. It was nominated for Best Narrative, Best Performance (for Ashly Burch), Best RPG and Game of the Year.

What Will The Outer Worlds DLC Be About?

The Outer Worlds is the new blue-eyed boy of the Obsidian Entertainment. It recently got taken over by Microsoft. The gaming company has enjoyed success with its games Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout: Stick of Truth, but the true feather in its cap has been The Outer Worlds game.

The sci-fi RPG game has received a pat on the back for its colorful interface and a world full of interesting personalities. With the unfolding of the story DLC in the coming year, there is certainly going to be a lot more adulation that’s coming its way.

Enthusiasts are keen to know when this update will release and what exactly the DLC will be about. There is little clarity on the platforms the new roll-out will cover. However, as the game is a single-player game that involves role-playing and multiple endings. The industry estimates expect an old-school kind of story setting. There may even be some content created for post-game for the gamers to enjoy some glory for their victory over the challenges in the game.

Rumour has it that it will be available on all platforms simultaneously. This includes PC, PS4, Xbox One and even possibly Nintendo Switch. Interestingly, as Microsoft is now at the helm of things with regard to The Outer Worlds, there may even be a possibility that the new DLC feature could very well be an Xbox and PC exclusive.

As the industry and gaming enthusiasts in the world over await its release, there is no confirmed date announcement yet.

  • The Best Gaming Console You Can Own Right Now

The Best Gaming Console You Can Own Right Now

Gaming consoles are now commonplace across households due to their scaling popularity. What started off as simple 8-bit gaming systems with 2D graphics in the 80s have now evolved to virtual worlds, cinematic experiences with multiple sensory features and cutting-edge hardware. Some latest models even come with virtual reality headsets & capabilities with Blu-Ray visuals to offer an unperturbed experience.

    Best Gaming Consoles

As the gaming industry evolved, so have the needs and demands of gamers. From casual gamers to high-tech serious gaming enthusiasts and specialists, the types of gaming consoles to have developed variably. Options are endless across large 4K machines, Ultra HDTVs, portable gaming, VR and much more.

Choosing what’s useful and ideal for you is important to thoroughly enjoy your gaming experience. This is why we have put together a list of 3 best gaming consoles that offer varying features and capabilities. This will help you decide on the stack that suits your needs.

    Xbox One S

This Microsoft console stands its ground despite the newer Xbox One X, making it one of the best consoles available today. If you are looking for an affordable device that offers AAA gaming, multimedia services and even allows you to watch movies and shows, you need not look beyond the Xbox One S. You can even enjoy some 4K Blue Ray Ultra-HD visuals with this versatile machine.

    Xbox One S

The hardware is a welcome sleeker and smaller version compared to the earlier editions of Xbox from Microsoft. It is the second version of the 8th-gen console that offers Bluetooth connectivity and syncs with Windows 10 without the need to use a wireless adaptor.

The exclusive franchisees it offers include the uber-famous “Halo” and “Gears of War”. While it isn’t the best gaming console in terms of what it offers in its gaming library, it certainly does pack in a good fight.

When we talk of drawbacks, the Xbox One S certainly has a couple. While the console can stream videos in 4K, it cannot render games in 4K. Further, Microsoft has stated that beefier games are likely to be rolled out for the One X which will also work on the One S. It’s uncertain as to how this console will be able to support future titles that are tailor-made for the One X.

    Nintendo Switch

Ideal for a family of casual gamers who prefer portability and easy gaming, the Nintendo Switch is certainly a favorite among scores of avid gamers. Nintendo, a Japanese company has been a pioneer in the gaming industry with its releases over the years.

Taking its innovative drive further with the Switch, Nintendo has created a hybrid console that can be used as a home gaming device with a docking station that connects to a TV and can double up as a portable device with a handy tablet-like feel.

    Nintendo Switch

It is also a beautiful amalgamation of an online gaming console as well as an at-home social gaming experience. You can enjoy online games on the console, and simply slip it out to hand over to a family member for an independent gaming experience. This is something even some of the biggest gaming and entertainment manufacturers and consoles have ignored and has worked tremendously in the favor of the Nintendo Switch.

For those who enjoy some of the big hits of Nintendo namely ‘Splatoon-2’ and ‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath in the Wild’, there’s more in store from Nintendo’s first-party franchisee. There is a buzz that many of the brand’s franchisee games Super Mario, Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart among others will be launched on the Switch platform in the near future.

However, when we look at the array of online games this console offers, that’s where it is a bit of a let-down. The hardware of the Nintendo Switch does not support triple-A games presently, and there is also a lot of buzzes it is facing in terms of being backward compatible with older games.

    The PlayStation 4 Pro

Sony has been one of the biggest names in the gaming ecosystem from its first PlayStation back in the 90s. The current version does not fail to impress. With an upgraded GPU that brings on the table 4K capability, improved performance and PlayStation VR, Sony’s own VR headset, this console is certainly one of the best in the market.

    PlayStation 4 Pro

The DualShock 4 does some great double duty as a gamepad and a PC controller. This console also does well on the 4K HDR capabilities and improved hardware features. But where it really outshines all other gaming consoles is its brilliant gaming library.

It definitely has one of the most coveted line up of games that range from triple-A games, indie games, imported games and some PS exclusive hits such as ‘Bloodborne’ and ‘The Last of Us’. Although this console’s price is higher than the Xbox series, those who enjoy these exclusive games swear by the PS as the best console in the market today.

Despite its tremendous fan-following, the PS4 Pro does have its share of drawbacks. Surprisingly, despite being the inventor of Blu-Ray medium, Sony has not stitched in the element of 4K Blu-Ray player in their gaming console. Perhaps this was done to cut costs from the already inflated price or the PS4 Pro.

There is also a question on the poor backward compatibility of PlayStation 4 Pro as it does not support even the PS3 games. The only way to continue enjoying legacy media is through the PS Now device that offers games to be rented or played through a monthly subscription.

    Conclusion

While each gaming console comes with its set of advantages and drawbacks, you need to choose one that suits your usage and needs. For a more easy, portable and casual gaming experience, it is the Nintendo Switch that emerges as the clear choice.

Between the Xbox One S and the PS Pro 4, it would essentially boil down to which gaming library impresses users more. All in all, these three are certainly the consoles that are ruling the roost in the current gaming scenario.

Most of the physical features of this smartphone are typical of the Redmi Note series. This budget phone sports a dual Gorilla Glass 5 shell with a splash-proof nano-coating body that offers some trendy gradient colors for its back panel ranging from Moonlight White to Starscape Blue and the more subtle Moon shadow grey. Although, it is only the blue which is available in the UK currently.

The back panel also sports a fingerprint sensor that does the job just fine. It is speedy, accurate and also appropriately placed exactly where the index finger sits when the phone rests in your palm. However, one must admit that the phone is a tad longer than one would prefer, giving a rather uncomfortable stretch to even a roomy grip.

The frame is a combination of plastic and metal with a small waterdrop notch curve body. The overall appearance of this smartphone is certainly more premium than the price bracket it belongs to. Probably the only aspect of its body that gives away its budget nature is the larger than normal bezel around the entire phone that’s most prominent around the chin of the phone.

The 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with an IPS LCD screen and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 offers a fairly good array of colors in the display. The screen to body ratio is a moderate 88.3%.  The brightness of the phone, however, is a slight disappointment. It is slightly under-toned and limited even at its highest. The 3.5mm headphone jack, the USB-C port, and the speaker are all lined along the base of the smartphone.

The Build of The Redmi Note 8T

This budget smartphone sports a Snapdragon 655 chipset from Qualcomm. Despite this chipset being fairly mid-range, there are little or no complaints with the speed of the device during gaming or processing pictures. With a 4GB RAM and a 64GB storage, the smartphone pretty much packs in a decent punch when it comes to its built quality. There is an option of inserting a microSD card of up to 256GB.

The Redmi Note 8T runs on MIUI 10, and it isn’t long before it is upgraded to the latest MIUI 11. For the uninitiated, the MIUI 10 is a heavily skinned version of Android Pie that resembles the iOS in more ways than one.

The Camera of The Redmi Note 8T

The rear camera of the Redmi Note 8T is a four-camera set-up that includes a 48MP main camera, supported by an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth camera. The front camera is a healthy 13MP .9 micron pixel size camera. The colossal 48MP main camera certainly packs in a punch and places this smartphone ahead of all its competitors when it comes to the clarity and quality of the camera.

    Camera

Although not the best in the market, all of the other cameras are just about good considering the budget nature of this smartphone. One drawback with most photos taken on this smartphone is the low differentiation of the background and the subject and its sub-par performance in low-light settings.

Something unique about all cameras in the Redmi 8T is the range of options available when it comes to camera modes. From night vision, short video mode, robust-pro mode and much more, this smartphone give you a feeling of dealing with a highly versatile and feature-rich camera that not many in its competition can boast of.

However, you are almost always better off using the camera in its standard mode as the quality and sharpness of images are quite compromised in the other modes especially in case of low-light settings.

The Battery of the Redmi Note 8T

The Redmi Note 8T offers a sizeable 4000 mAh battery that can support a day-long usage stint for moderate usage. If you’re running low on battery, the 18W fast charger of this smartphone can have your battery percentage shoot Up from  5% to 40% in just 30 minutes.

Plug it in for a little over an hour if you are aiming to look at a 100% charged battery. The phone, however, does not offer any wireless charging mechanism. Overall, there isn’t much to complain about when it comes to the battery of the Redmi Note 8T.

    Unboxing the Redmi Note 8T

    Unboxing the Redmi Note 8T

Unboxing this smartphone reveals the usual suspects that include a USB-C cable, an 18W charger and the smartphone itself. The charger of the Note 8T is a notch above the Note 8 that offered a slower 10W adaptor. The box also offers a transparent silicon cover for the phone which is a pleasant surprise.

    Final Verdict

All in all, the Redmi Note 8T certainly aims high and offers a whole lot more than an average phone in its segment. The look and appearance of the phone are quite snappy and the specs are typically those you would end up looking for in a phone that’s a couple of notches above the Note 8T.

It is one of the best budget smartphones in the market with the coveted NFC support that makes online payments a whole lot easier. At a price of 169.99 pounds, we would certainly consider this smartphone a good buy.

China Threatens Germany With Retaliation If Huawei 5G Is Banned

With the German Chancellor Angela Merkel pushing to apply cybersecurity guidelines on the Chinese smartphone maker Huawei and other 5G vendors, the Chinese government has threatened to retaliate against the same.

    Huawei 5G Is Banned

Lawmakers in the Angela Merkel government have recently expressed concern over Huawei’s deployment of 5G wireless networks in European countries. This comes in light of the security allegations made against the Chinese smartphone maker and its 5G network hardware and capabilities.

The Chinese ambassador to Germany, Wu Ken, recently stated-

“If Germany were to make a decision that leads to Huawei’s exclusion from the German market, there will be consequences. The Chinese government will not stand idly by.”

He stated that Huawei was under no obligation whatsoever to provide information to the Chinese government.

The ambassador also went to draw from the German carmakers who supply over a quarter of the 28 million cars sold in the Chinese auto market last year. Wu Ken went on to further rationalize-

“Could we one day say that these German cars are no longer safe because we are in a position to manufacture our own cars? No. That is pure protectionism.”

Last month, around 80 officials part of the German Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party had, at the party’s annual convention, presented a motion that stood against the Chinese smartphone manufacturer’s big role in setting up 5G networks in Germany. The convention released a text that read, “Only those are trustworthy that are not under the influence of undemocratic states without a functioning rule of law.”

Previous reports stated that German Chancellor Angela Merkel was earlier consenting of Huawei supplying components to set up the 5G infrastructure in Germany. after the statement from the CDU at the convention, Merkel had signaled that this motion wouldn’t be considered as binding.

Having recently finalized rules and regulations for the deployment of 5G components in Germany, the German government had not excluded the Chinese manufacturer from its engagement in supplying components. Further, the government officials did confirm that the country’s security catalog will be the base for technical and additional evaluation of this arrangement. They also stated that no single vendor would be singled out and barred.

In line with the same, German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier warned against laws that are passed singling out a particular firm or establishment.

“We shouldn’t turn against individual companies and instead insist that all electronic and high technology components used in Germany meet the highest security requirements”

He elucidated in an interview published in Der Tagesspiegel newspaper.

Stating that it’s components and software contained “back doors” that could enable the Chinese government to spy on countries. The US has been, in the recent past, trying to influence its ally countries to ban Huawei from supplying 5G components. In a bid to fight sanctions imposed on it, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer filed a lawsuit against the Federal Communications Commission this month.
