OxygenOS 10.3.1 out the OnePlus 6 and the Oneplus 6t
This mainly rings one key thing in the brain; Bug Fixes. And if this update is anything to go by then this is mainly what there is to it.

There was a lot of trouble with the initial rollout of the Android 10 update for the OnePlus 6 and 6T. this mainly included a black screen issue when unlocking with the fingerprint sensor, the device heated up while charging and there were a number of reports on some random disconnections when using a 5Ghz hotspot.

Good thing the company listened to the complaints and decided to roll out an update that would fix these issues.

OnePlus Announcement

OnePlus announced on the 21^st of January this year, the OxygenOS 10.3.1 update for both the OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6 models.

The company announced the usual general bug fixes and improvements on system stability. The new version is also bringing with it several improvements. The issue with the black screen appearing after unlocking the devices via fingerprint. Also, and one of the most dominant problems, the random disconnections after using the 5Ghz hotspot.

In addition, there are more fixes on the device like-
1. 1. Heating up whenever while charging the device. It was also another honest bother
  2. The camera, and gallery, which is the main cause of the camera crashing problem.
  3. Issues with images and videos being unevenly displayed in the gallery app.
Besides that, the OxygenOS 10.3.1 update, it also updated the new android security update patch to 2019.12.

I feel that the company honestly did some good work with the two devices. However, they seriously made plenty of flaws by not recognizing these flaws in the initial device launch.

These bugs and fixes should have been dealt with a long time before the launch of the device. Some of these are pretty noticeable. Hence, for a company as big as OnePlus to say this is a disappointment would be an understatement.

Advantage and praising of New Update

But, the good thing is the company did not display any narcissistic attitude to the complaints and reviews and owned up to their mistakes.

They rolled out this new update and it is impressive how they managed to get everything into a scope and fix it. The company further promised to continue releasing updates. Hence, that would better their devices’ user experience and promised to deliver on more accurate releases.

We hope to see them implement these promises in their future devices and I personally can’t wait to see what they do with their upcoming OnePlus 8 that is rumored to come around the first half of this year.

All in all, OnePlus is an awesome trademark that struggles to deliver on its promises of better user experience and reliable devices. Most of its devices may be high end, but boy don’t they put some serious and mean specs under the hood.

Conclusion

It wouldn’t be a surprise that with this growing trend, the OnePlus may gain enough guts that would give companies such as Apple a run for their money in the near future.

Moto G7 Power- A Complete Review

On the first look of the Moto G7 power, it is easy to shun it off for having a less impressive look. This is not to necessarily say that the G7 is not a good phone rather it bears a common similarity in the frontward appearance to other modern smartphone devices.

If you are a fan of the great Motorola G7 series then you probably know that that series offered three entries thus the Moto G7, Moto G7 Play, and the Moto G7 Power.

All three smartphones bear a great difference especially price-wise with the G7 Play being the cheapest in the series with a standing price of $199 as compared to the moto G7 which still stands at about $299.

The G7 Power was intended to fall into this same category of price ranges with Motorola still sticking to ensure that they come up with devices that are both efficient and pocket-friendly.

The G7 Power was priced at $249 dollars and has a number of great perks for such a price which we will get into in just a bit.

Special features of this device

Albeit, the one thing that is genuinely admirable about this device is its spec formation and how closely similar it is to its predecessor, the Moto G7.

The G7 Power bears a single 12-megapixel camera, 32 Gigs of storage, and 3GB of memory.

The largest notable difference between the G7 Power and the G7 is the battery size. With a 5,000mAh battery, the G7 Power overweighs its predecessor which only has 3,000mAh battery capacity.

In theory, what the G7 Power has done is gaining more battery power at the expense of the performance which is not really a bad move really if you’d ask me. This has played a huge and major role in the phenomenal battery life of the Moto G7 Power.

Design of G7 models

There is barely any difference in comparison to other G7 models in the design of the Power. The only visible difference, again, is the black bar at the top of the screen which replaces the teardrop notch in the G7 series and the bezels on the Power are slightly thicker as compared to the G7, which is the same as the overall thickness of the Power

The phone is equally heavier than the G7 with an average weight of 198 grams as opposed to the 172 grams of the G7.

This device is backed up by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 632 Processor, with 3 GB of memory and 32GB of storage. The Bluetooth 4.2 LE and 802.11a/c also do a fair job.

The phone has a 1520 x 720 display which cannot necessarily match up to its predecessor in a lot of ways but will surely get the job done and the display feels just as effective as most phone displays of this generation are.

The back of the phone has a 12-megapixel camera that has a fingerprint reader settled right underneath it with a Motorola logo.

The phone features a USB Type-C charging port that also doubles up for data transfer which is admirable due to the enhanced speed of data transfer.

Headphones and many more features

The phone also features a headphone jack that is 3.5mm and located on the top side of the phone. The sim card/microSD card slot all located on the left side of the phone.

The series is well-known for its P2i Nano-coating water-repellent material which the company did not shy away from using on this device at all.

However, there is still room for some more improvement in terms of these dustproof and slightly water-resistant features that the company deals with.

The phone primarily comes with Marine Blue as its main color. This is sadly the only color that the phone comes in. maybe in the near future, the company may incorporate many other colors but for now, that’s all that there is.

The phone also has the power button and the volume rocker all located on the right side of the phone.

Performance of Moto G7 Power

The Moto G7 Power has admirably proven to be a phone that’s outstanding. But the most appealing aspect of this phone performance-wise is evidently the battery life.

The phone is obviously built to optimize itself for this specific purpose. This is even evident from the way that Motorola has cut down on specs to make room for the bigger battery.

On average the battery is powerful, which to last 14 hours on a benchmarking test. This is more than one can say for the G7.

Photos are also fairly crisp and the camera delivers on a lot of aspects that most phones do. In ideal lighting conditions, photos had great quality and were overly fair with some clear and crisp properties.

The camera, however, struggles when it comes to lighting bright or dim lighting conditions.

Motorola’s Android Software tweaks

However, are a feature that is to be admired. Moto actions make it easy for the user to turn the camera on and off using gestures. This is also available for features such as the phone flashlight etc.

The G7 Power is without a doubt is having a fair price. Hence, with it, there are a lot of admirable features available. For a phone’s price is around $249, it has a lot within it that just classifies it above that price.

But this is the normal business structure of Motorola and its honestly not that new. The company tries to make sure that all of its devices are mostly available and pocket-friendly.

In terms of specs, I honestly think that the company has really outdone itself. I honestly don’t mind giving up an extra camera in exchange for more battery time and usage.

Conclusion

The whole G7 series is admirable and it is safe to say that it is a dependable series. However, I would gladly put my money on the G7 Power any day.

It is the phone you’d want to go for in case you want some extreme features in a basic phone and pocket-friendly size.

Google’s Live Caption Quietly Brought to The Pixel 2

If you are a fun of last year’s Google flagship the Pixel 4, then chances are that you have probably heard of Googles Live Caption feature. And if you haven’t gotten your hands on the Pixel 4 and happen to have a Pixel 2 lying around then you are in luck.

Google is known for its ability to follow through on rolling out updates for its previous devices despite having new devices in the market so the Pixel 2 is no different from the rest in any special way.

What is Live Caption

Now, a majority of reviews covered this aspect last year as it was one of the features that were supposed to make the Pixel 4 sell a lot.

Google’s Live Caption is a feature in the Google Pixel phones that adds locally generated captions to all video and audio content on the phone. It was mainly rolling out to help people who have hearing problems and whatnot. but it is growing as a trademark of the Pixel series.

The update of Google’s Live Caption feature was earlier backported to the Pixel 3 series. It is including the 3a and was speculated to be rolled out to more Pixel devices.

Google was pretty silent about an update but that didn’t stop Pixel users from hoping and being expectant.

The Update That Changed It All

Reddit user Yashredy was supposedly the first to notice the update that brought the service onto both the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL.

After that, a lot more users started claiming that they had actually experienced the same feature in their Pixel 2 and XL devices. This was discovered off of the latest device personalization services Apk that was manually installed by the users.

The company must have noticed this and started development immediately. Then a while later we finally have the update that has confirmed it.

The company is not making any announcement for the update. Hence, it is really discrete of them considering how much hope is on the company’s official updates.

Huawei Watch GT 2 review

One amongst the past centuries major trademarks were the smartwatch. This trademark has been going on for quite a while now and it is safe to say that smartphone companies are slowly letting in new avenues to this approach.

Companies such as Apple and Samsung have been producing smartwatches that have won the hearts of many for a long time. But now new products are to be expected from other smartphone companies.

One such smartphone company is Huawei. The company released an update on their Huawei Watch GT and it is just wanting. Without further ado, here is a detailed review of the new Huawei Watch GT 2.

The Watch GT

The very look of the watch has a sporty look to it and is admirably simple. It bears its trademark fitness tracking feature all bottled up into one watch that has bee considered fancy in a lot of places.

The watch runs Huawei’s very own Lite OS so for the famous tweakers and app installers this just won’t work for you. However, the company put a lot of thought into development for the watch. This being said, it is safe to say that the watch has every basic aspect that a smartwatch should have.

But the greatest question in mind is what the GT 2 has that the GT didn’t? Well, better dumbed down, the GT 2 gives you options. There are basically two versions of the watch fro which one can tell one is slightly larger than the other. The smaller version is 42mm which is fairly small for a smartwatch.

While the larger version of the watch spins at 46mm which allows it a speaker and full phone call functionality when connected to your phone. It also has stress-tracking and storage of offline music.

The Design

The watch is available in various unique designs. I guess this move is set to help the owners be able to change their watches according to their style. However, one universal aspect of the watch is the OLED screens.

The 46mm version of the Huawei Watch GT 2 features a 454 by 454 resolution display, whereas the 42mm version has a lower resolution build. The 46mm version also has double the battery and RAM that the 42mm version has which is honestly saying a lot.

With such great differentiation, I feel it would have been better if the 42mm version just stuck to a simpler name like lite or something just so guys buying wouldn’t feel short-changed. But those are just my opinions.

There are basically three versions of the main versions (wow). The smartwatch can further be divided into Elite, Classical, and Sport versions. Each version has definitive straps and finishes with metal being included in the mix.

Around the back of the watch is a noticeable, slightly raised heart rate monitor and a set of two POGO pin connectors that are meant for charging.

The Interface

Like I had earlier mentioned the watch comes with Huawei’s own Lite OS. This OS is very nice and easy to navigate around. Aside from the inability to download apps at will, it is pretty precise and easy to figure out.

Some key examples are such as the ability to swipe down to gain access to quick settings and horizontally in order to scroll through key elements. All pre-installed apps can be accessed through the upper button whereas the lower button can be customized to do a number of functions.

It has a number of feature staples such as the alarm, the timer, the alarm, and the stopwatch. However, it cannot multitask and switch between applications can be strenuous. Especially if you picture a time that you’d need two apps to run consecutively.

Now one main formality of the watch is the performance. The Huawei Watch GT 2 performs fairly but it is still a long way from getting into the big leagues with the kinds of watches that Samsung and Apple produce.

There is so much focus on the smoothness of the phone that the manufacturers completely threw off the battery life. It wouldn’t really hurt to have a decrease in the smoothness at the expense of more battery life.

Albeit, there’s no linking the watch to more serious exercising applications such as Edmondo or Strava which limits the user to lite that are not intense and non-athletic drills.

So if you are a serious athletics enthusiast or athlete then you might not find it that convenient.

Battery and Specs

Like I said, the battery life of the Huawei Watch GT 2 is not all that dependable, so it might help if you could tone down on some miscellaneous usage and cut off the use of some of the apps in order to have a more substantial outcome.

The watch also leverages some 4GB worth of storage mainly for songs. You can listen to these songs via the watch’s speaker or even a Bluetooth device.

The watch’s processor provides some really smooth animations. The Kirin A1 processor is not new to Huawei’s devices with the processor being relatively showcasing in the FreeBuds 3 earphones by Huawei.

the watches may, however, have a few slowing down frame rates in use once in a while. Though this is not experienced commonly it is something to watch out for like when you could be using it during gym hours.

Conclusion

The watch is literally a charmer and I feel the company has done a lot of amendments here and there. But, to put such a watch up against brands such as Apple and Samsung would be nothing short of carnage.

It is a good start however for the company and we sure do hope to see what more the company can do for the smartwatch in the near future.

Messaging app ToTok pulled from Play Store following reports of government surveillance.

There have been reports of government surveillance in last year’s most downloaded chatting app ToTok. The application was highly downloaded and installed off of Google’s Play Store towards the end of December and was pulled down a while afterward. Even Apple Stores pulled the application down.

Researchers are claiming that the application’s messaging business model is a façade. Hence, it was designed to automatically document information from the users that are extremely personal. The information are including such as conversations, movements, relationships, sounds photos, and even appointments.

Now, before this app, there have been lots of speculations concerning personal and private information. It is being leaked and fed to the government for years now. In fact, most modern movies have taken on these theories and even games have been made off of this.

Nowadays there is a lot of concern about having your information leaked. As we all know that privacy is highly considerable personal’s right. This is why the online app stores that were airing the app had to pull it down once they ad information that the app had been breaching the terms of service.

Adding Further To This

Researchers also suspect, that the brainchild behind the application. Breej Holding, is closely in association with the well-renowned intelligence and hacking agency. Also, DarkMatter, which has been under surveillance by the FBI for a while now.

Before the ToTok application was pulled off of the online markets, it had a relatively huge number of downloads. Also, it had taken its toll on places such as North America, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Europe.

As much as the app has been pulled off of the topmost online markets in the globe, the application itself has not been closed. This means that users who had already installed the app on their smartphones can still use it.

Huawei’s Alternative to Google Maps

It’s no surprise that Huawei and the U.S. have had their fair share of controversies for a while now. This has led to the ban on Huawei in the United States. So, the thing threatens the partnership between the company and U.S. based Google. As a result, Huawei’s alternative to Google Maps news is rolling out on the internet.

Deal with Dutch Digital Mapping

Huawei has since then been searching for alternatives to the services. Therefore, they got off of Google, which has also included the development of a new alternative Operating System to that of Google’s Android.

Now the company has gone further to sign a deal with the Dutch digital mapping company TomTom. It will help Huawei to put maps on its phones.

Apparently, the deal was closed some time ago and was only made public on the 19^th of January 2020.

TomTom maintains a number of self-branded applications on both IOS and Android operating systems. Huawei still hopes to build a variety of its applications with TomTom’s traffic and map information.

Full-fledged mapping system

Previous reports have also claimed that the Chinese mobile phone company is building a full-fledged mapping system that will work as an alternative to the Google Maps feature in Android devices.

This software would obviously be made available for application developers and is said to be using data from Huawei’s own telecom base stations in collaboration with Russian tech giant Yandex.

The TomTom deal could mean that the Chinese company needs an alternative solution while they develop on their own map system or that the company is just backing away from the deal altogether.

Either way, tables have been set and signatures have been exchanged so there’s no backing down now.

More About Huawei’s Alternative to Google Maps

Huawei had a good run while it had access to Google services. Also, it did a fairly good job with the system too until the Trump administration placed a couple of sanctions on the company. Last year that threatened its ties with American tech companies.

For now, the company is still using the Android operating system. However, the future of this partnership is still unclear which has led the company to develop its own Harmony OS.

The one thing that’s sure is that the new state of things makes it difficult to predict the future of the Chinese company, even TomTom is now going to have to depend less on Google and have to come out as a Huawei counterpart.

Most of the phones that are currently releasing by Huawei. It is still bearing the Google Android tag and has a lot of Google’s features. Hence, the new change in Huawei’s devices is yet to be seen. We expect these new changes in the near future when Huawei releases its new flagship devices.

It s also unclear if current Huawei owners will have their devices shut down or not so yet again we just want to see how things will play out.

LG tipped to unveil V60 ThinQ at MWC 2020

Smartphones have made an amazing turn in terms of appearances, sizes shapes and over the years companies have gone out of their way to make sure that they surprise us with their new releases. It seems that the future is just so unpredictable especially if it comes to these smartphones.

There are those that have a number of cameras on the back while others have huge screens and the more subtle ones just divide the screen into two halves so it could fold.

Now, LG took a more subtle approach and gave its flagship smartphone not one, but two screens. Yes, the company released the phone late last year and promised to start shipping it as this year’s first LG phone.

The phone has two screens that touch onto each other when the phone is (much like a Nintendo DS but without the controller). The LG V60 ThinQ phone has also been confirmed to have a 5G reception which will be one amongst the few phones that have this type of network reception.

According to sources, the company plans to launch the phone in Barcelona.

5G Connectivity

As most know, 5G is not really that much available in a lot of smartphones as for most companies it is still in the “testing phase”. LG is hoping to take advantage of this situation. They will release their phone in advance so as to reduce its number of competitors. But, this is not to say that it is going to win any crowns for it.

There are still a number of smartphones out there that are going to be better competitors than the brand is expecting. There are a number of flagships that are coming this year. Even Samsung’s very own rumoured S20 is releasing this year, and this is just to mention but one.

This year’s smartphone wars are going to be nothing short of a bloodbath so there is a lot o gearing up that users and manufacturers are to do to prepare.

However, if there is anything that is going to make the new LG V60 ThinQ stand out is its second screen. The release of the smartphone may entail a second screen cover for the rest second screen.

The cover may upgrade the folding structure and a free stop hinge technology. Also, it would allow the user to hold the second screen at any angle.

I am not saying that this is the best feature of the phone. However, it is something unique and frankly, with this new range of competitive smartphones, this is generally all that a company needs to have in order to compete in the big leagues.

The Honor 8X was without a doubt one of 2018’s most impressive budget phones that went out of its way to combine both a big screen and tiny bezels and power under the hood was just overwhelming. The smartphone played its part and did not disappoint.

That’s why people were pretty hyped up to hear that the smartphone of the year had a baby brother; the Honor 9X. There is a lot of controversies and both good and bad media that surrounded this phone’s release. We want to have a glimpse at how the phone is and how it performs both generally and camera-wise.

The phone’s front is almost literally all screen from top to bottom and side to side and offers a pop-up selfie camera not forgetting the thee back cameras that this bad boy has.

9X Phone from Honor has a Kirin 710F processor which is in itself a mid-range chipset and a storage capacity of 128GB which is backed up with 4GB or 6GB ram according to the user’s preference and taste. The phones bag a 4000mAh battery that will offer you a substantial amount of usage time.

We are going to have an in-depth analysis of the phone to find out if it has the characteristics that could dim it worthy to be flagged as great as the Honor 8X was.

Camera

The camera on the phone is capable of shooting a resolution of 12MP on default. The maximum resolution of the main camera is, however, 48MP which is needless to say very good and just by using the default 12MP camera setting you to get quite crisp images.

Though one thing that’s for sure is that this phone is not going to necessarily win any best camera phone of the year awards. But the general camera is awesome and works okay for a phone of this kind of budget.

The phone delivers better noise-handling through down-sampling pixel-counts. Though when in good lighting the user can be able to use the max resolution setting. This means that the average camera work is just good for taking general pictures so in case you want to have some professional shots then I personally wouldn’t recommend this phone.

The phone is quite elegant and is among the few Huawei phones that still have Google’s licenses incorporated within it. Those who are aware of Huawei’s past will tell you about how the device was first banned in the US etc.

Well, a good look on the phone will show you how much it bears a great resemblance to the much popular Huawei P Smart Z. Now, most critics have complained that the device is not new but rather a spin-off of the original P smart Z device. I do not want to throw any shade or start off any infinite debates, but I’ll just describe the phone what it is; A good smartphone.

Design

The device has a sleek design and a very awesome screen to body ratio. The notch-less screen goes a long way in defining the phone’s character and its general appealing features. The company did an awesome job in designing this device as it bears so much youth and confidence within it.

The navigation bars are of course on screen and it has Android 9 including Huawei’s EMUI 9.1. the fingerprint sensor is also presumably really fast.

The screen is an LTPS IPS LCD with 1080 x 2340 px resolution all under 6.9 inches scoring an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

The main disappointment of this device, however, is the lack of an ultrawide shooter.

Battery

The phone’s battery is quite admirable, you can charge it using a USB type C port. It is very awesome especially with the speed that this type of USB cable transfers data at. This is something that most smartphones are taking up as a new look for their devices.

There is very little that you can hear of this device in general. Other than it’s a good device and will serve all your basic needs for a phone that is priced at such a budget price.

Unboxing

In the box, Honor 9X phone comes with a company built screen protector, a charging cable, an adapter, and a pair of earphones for the latter. This is a basic set like all other smartphones and the thing that is making this phone better is a 3.5mm jack for earphone usage. The phone also connects to GSM/HSPA/LTE networks which are quite useful in today’s smartphone world.
