    Design

The rubber corners around the display make the Doogee S95 Pro look unmistakably like a rugged smartphone. The phone is hefty at 285 grams, and the dimensions are 168 x 80.5 x 15 millimetres. Although the phone is slightly bulky, it feels quite manageable in the hands when compared to other rugged phones. The overall design bears a certain similarity to gaming phones like the Xiaomi Blackshark – which might be what the company was going for since Doogee emphasizes that the S95 Pro is also suitable for gaming.

On the front of the device, you will find the large 6.3-inch display, protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The screen has rather thin bezels, and the bumps on the corners provide additional protection to the display. The device comes with an LED indicator in the top right corner.

The power and volume buttons are embedded in the frame on the right, along with the fingerprint sensor. The sensor is quick and works reliably. There is an additional button on the left side that can be assigned to launch whichever application you please. The phone IP68/IP69K certified – meaning it’s dust- and water-resistant, making it suitable for rough use.

    Doogee S95 Pro Features
    Doogee S95 Pro Features

    Performance

The phone comes with the new Mediatek Helio P90 Octacore processor that consists of two ARM Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz, and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. It also boasts the powerful IMG PowerVR GM9446 GPU and achieves an Antutu score of 216,927 points – putting it up to par against smartphones like the Xiaomi Mi 9T. The powerful components make the smartphone ideal for gaming.

You can multitask extensively without experiencing any lag since the S95 Pro comes with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. You can keep a ton of apps open without experiencing slowdowns. The internal storage is fast, too, and the device boasts read and write speeds of 400MB/s and 210 MB/s, respectively. The high memory speeds are owed to the UFS 2.0 technology embedded in the phone. You can also add an SD card to expand the 128GB of internal memory by up to an additional 256GB. However, if you choose to use an SD card, you will not be able to use a second SIM card.

    Camera

The triple camera setup on the back of the Doogee S95 Pro consists of two 8-megapixel sensors and a powerful 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor. According to Doogee, the setup should allow users to capture both wide-angle and close-up shots, and also get clear 10x zoom shots. One of the sensors serves as a wide-angle sensor; however, the alleged telephoto sensor does not work as intended. All the zooming is done digitally, and the image resolution drops significantly as you zoom in.

    Doogee S95 Pro camera
    Doogee S95 Pro camera

High-quality 48-megapixel video can be recorded with the device; however, the videos are scaled-down when using the HDR or AI function. The AI function recognizes the scenes and automatically makes adjustments to the camera’s settings. The photos are a little on the warmer side, and the bokeh mode is inaccurate at times. Another downside is that the phone does not come with Optical Image Stabilization – which will make the videos you capture shaky.

    Software

The S95 Pro comes loaded with Android 9.0 with a skin on top. The skin provides a close-to-stock Android experience; however, there are some differences.

There is no app drawer, and the UI is akin to iOS. The great thing about Android is that you can download a launcher from the Play Store and give your phone’s UI a facelift. There are some additional features like double-tap to wake, and gesture navigation. You can also assign any application to the extra button on the left.

    Battery Life

The massive 5150 mAh battery will last you for two days on heavy use. If used moderately, the phone will last you over three days.

    Battery
    Doogee S95 Pro Battery

The phone supports both wireless charging and fast charging. Using the 24W fast charger, you can fully charge the phone in about two hours.

    Modules

Modules that can be attached to the rear of the phone are available online for the S95 Pro. You can find a speaker and a battery module online at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, the predecessors’ modules are not compatible with the S95 Pro.

    Verdict

The Doogee S95 Pro is currently one of the best rugged smartphones on the market. Overall, the phone does not disappoint, and the decent design and high performance make the phone stand out at its excellent price point. The camera is a little underwhelming; however, it is on par with other smartphones like the Xiaomi Mi 9T. The availability of external modules is just a cherry on top.

In the tenth version as of now, MIUI has come a long way and is considered to be quite enticing. Let’s talk about some of the MIUI tips and tricks that will help you take full use of the phone.

    App Drawer

If you have never used a Xiaomi phone before, you could find it a bit odd the first time to turn it on. This is usually because the App Drawer is hidden, as part of the default settings. If you would rather have it, you can easily turn it on. If you have always used Android smartphone, having the app drawer will help you get used to the interface faster. To do so, long-press on the home screen. Select Settings and click on More. Choose ‘With App Drawer’ on the screen.

    Themes

A fun aspect of using MIUI is the ability to customize your smartphone by using themes. You will not have to let go of the style or use external applications to make use of themes. However, by using it, you can completely change the aesthetics of your device, giving you a respite from your usual interface. In order to change the theme of your Xiaomi smartphone, you will first need to download one. To do this, open Themes app. You will be redirected to the online shop where you can easily search, download, and buy the theme you like. The browsing option is really cool, and you can check out a wide range of themes across various categories.

Once you have done this, it is time to decide whether you would like to apply the theme to all the aspects of your Xiaomi smartphone or to only a certain part of it. For instance, you can choose to use only the fonts or the icons instead of giving your phone a full makeover. This is the best part of MIUI since it allows an unbelievable amount of customization. In fact, it seems as if you can even create your own personal theme! It is one of the best MIUI tips and tricks to know.

    Display

Yes, every display has some issue or the other or is simply not the best version of itself. However, with MIUI, you know that the display is designed to keep its users as happy and satisfied as possible. To check out the appearance customization, head to the Settings page and click on Display. This will open up a large number of screen customization, some of them mentioned below.

    MIUI Colours and Contrasts
    MIUI Colours and Contrasts

Colours and Contrasts is an option that changes the temperature of white and the intensity of colour saturation. With the reading mode, you can reduce the blue light on the display to prevent strain on the eyes. You can also automate it to enable and disable it automatically after sunset or at certain times. The System fonts options will allow you to customize font type and size.

The always-on mode can be activated as well if you want to see the time, date and notification icons even when the display is “off”. This is all the more useful if you have an AMOLED display-based smartphone. Raise to wake is a feature which activates the display as the user lift their phone. This was first implemented by Apple on its iPhone and was received very well. The Dual Touch to Awaken feature will wake your smartphone up with a double touch anywhere on the screen instead of having to use the power button.

    Status Bar

Xiaomi MIUI has certain options that let the users show additional information in the status bar. The bar also changes the colour according to the app on the top. To make changes and customize the status bar, head to the Settings menu and choose the Notifications And Status Bar option. Within that menu, you will note certain options.

    MIUI 11
    MIUI 11

One is the Show Connection Speed option where you will easily be able to see the speed of the data connection or the Wi-Fi that you are connected to. Within the Notification Folders, you will be able to group notifications together into separate folders so that you can organize your life better. You will even be able to change the name of your operator. For instance, you can set the name of your First SIM card to Business and the second SIM to Private or anything you wish. Lastly, you can add the battery indicator which will show the remaining battery power either in percentage or in a graph.

    Unlock Your Smartphone Easily

Another one from the popular MIUI tips and tricks list is this. Xiaomi’s MIUI has an “Unlock With A Smile” feature, which is a major highlight. In this method, you will be able to unlock your smartphone using facial recognition. It speeds up the process of unlocking and your phone and you no longer have to rely on your fingerprint scanner. In fact, you may notice that this method is way faster than your traditional unlock methods. To set it up, visit the Settings menu and tap on Unlock Screen and Password. Within that, you will see an option called Add Face Data. Click on that and the software will take you through the motions.

    Split Screens

Split-screen on MIUI allows the users to maintain multiple profiles or accounts on their phones. The best thing here is that you can switch accounts swiftly without having to wait for anything. You can use two different accounts at the same time! This functional is called Dual App and can be found at the bottom of the Settings menu.

    Security

MIUI by Xiaomi is a stickler for privacy. It comes with various features, designed especially for data and app security. Within the App Lock option in the Settings menu, you can select the apps you want to lock up. By doing so, no one except you will be able to open it.

    Relax and Chill

MIUI has a special function, specially designed for meditation and relaxation. To enable this, you can visit the app and head to the Timer located under the duration selector. Now, you would be able to select the one that appeals the most to you from a large collection of options. This includes the likes of Summer Night, Rain, Forest, and Beach. Super ISO Samsung Galaxy S20 range could improve night mode

Heard about the new Samsung Galaxy S20 series? Here’s all that you need to know about it.

Super ISO Samsung Galaxy S20 range could improve night mode

    The S20 series

Samsung filed the ‘Super ISO’ trademark to the UK Intellectual Property Office on 31st January 2020. It indicated that the company is working on a night mode for its new phone. The trademark was later awarded to the company. Indeed, this trademark hinted that the S20 series will be one of the company’s most significant distinctions. The company introduced the trio of the series with the best camera, it ever had.

The trio includes S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra.

    More about ISO

If you are unaware about ISO, then let me tell you that it is a kind of setting that enables the determining of the sensitivity of the image sensor to light. Lower the ISO, less will be the sensitivity and vice-versa. This suggests that the company has made major changes in its camera and light.

Amping up the ISO setting helps you to take shots in darker environments. The new series will feature cameras with better low-light capturing.

    The Launch

The official launch of the phone took place on 11th February 2020. We can expect that the availability and delivery of pre-orders will be in the first week of March. Also, if you order S20+ or S20 ultra, you will get a pair of Galaxy buds free with it.

Camera with the Super Night Mode

The Galaxy S20 series offers a camera of 108 megapixels. It helps you get an absolutely sharp image that defines the smallest of the details. It also offers 10x hybrid optic zoom and 100x super-resolution zoom. Along with all the major changes in the camera, Samsung has introduced the Super Night mode, which is the boost to all the features and adds intensity to the camera. It improves the camera quality of Samsung Galaxy phones to a greater extent.

    Improvement in Night mode

The Super Night mode introduced by Samsung in its new S20 series has improved a lot. Firstly, when we look at the photos clicked from S10 and S20, we find major changes. The super night mode of Galaxy S20 camera finds a massive jump over the camera in Galaxy S10. We can find that the photos in Galaxy S20 are brighter and introduce sharper details.

The performance of a camera in low-light and night mode is an area where phones are really able to stand-out than the other companies. Samsung Galaxy S20 series has worked a lot on this. The other companies including Sony Xperia, Huawei, and Oppo have also introduced night modes and low-light cameras in the past.

    Conclusion

The introduction and launch of its night mode may lead to a big boost for Samsung. The Samsung Galaxy S10 had an ISO of 3200, and we are expecting that Galaxy S20 will reach up to ISO 6400. Not just the numbers, Samsung will find a great increase in its sales as well. Its price in India will be around Rs. 82,990.

  • Sony Xperia 2 Will Likely Be The Company’s First 5G Phone

Sony Xperia 2 Will Likely Be The Company’s First 5G Phone

According to My Drivers, a new Sony flagship is about to be launched, most likely to be named the Xperia 2. Sony will have a press conference at the MWC. During this time, the phone could be exhibited as well. Following the trend of 2020 flagships, the Xperia 2 will probably run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip as well. The SoC will be paired with the Snapdragon X55 modem for 5G connectivity. If this happens, the Xperia 2 will be Sony’s first-ever 5G smartphone.

    Sony Xperia 2

The smartphone could come with a 4K HDR OLED panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio similar to its predecessor, the Xperia 1. This will make Xperia 2 one of the first 4K phone by Sony to support the next-gen internet connectivity. The screen is believed to be quite large at 6.6-inches. With regards to the camera, the Xperia 2 will have four cameras at the rear. Rumours abound, with some claiming that the primary unit will be a 48-megapixels sensor and others believing it would be a 64-megapixels sensor.

Besides the main sensor, the camera unit will have a 12-megapixels ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 12MP telephoto unit with 3x optical zoom. Sony’s 2020 flagship is also expected to feature the Time Of Flight sensor for portrait shots. The phone is also likely to have 8K video shooting capabilities.

Other features of the Xperia 2 includes IP68 protection against water and dust and fast charging. It will have also NFC, making contactless payment possible. While there is a chance that the company might name this upcoming flagship Sony Xperia 2, there is also a chance it might not. If it does not, other possible names include Xperia 1.1, Xperia 1 Premium, Xperia 0, or Xperia 5 Plus.

    Sony’s 2020 flagship

According to several reports, the Xperia 2 (we will continue calling it that for now!) will have an 8-megapixels selfie shooter. With regards to speakers, it will sport dual front-firing ones. The dimensions of this smartphone are 168.2 x 71.6 x 8.1mm. The camera unit at the back does give way to a slight bump, but it is nothing very jarring. One thing that Sony has decided to retain is the physical fingerprint reader. Where most other companies have discarded the physical scanner on their flagships in favour of the in-screen fingerprint reader, Sony has decided to stick to the original option.

The phone is expected to run on a near-stock version of Android 10. It will also continue to have the 3.5mm headphone jack. While the price tag is hefty which is nothing surprising. It is because it is supposed to be a high-end flagship. It is still more affordable than other 5G models that are currently in the making right now. If the phone is well received, it could gain more popularity thanks to its affordable price tag and high-end features. It would also be a huge relief to Sony which has not had a break in the smartphone market for quite some time now.

  • Samsung Galaxy S10e Review

    Samsung Galaxy S10e Review

The Galaxy S10e was Samsung’s last flagship for 2019. The unique point with this model was that it had all the latest features, but the price point was incredibly affordable. Naturally, the other S10 models are better with more eye-catching features, but the smaller size is a great appeal to some. While we are still talking about the S10e, Samsung has already launched another flagship – the Samsung Galaxy Note 10. In addition to the S Pen stylus, it also comes with a time-of-flight sensor and features a triple-camera setup. The one thing that the S10e has on its side is the price appeal.

For that price, you will, of course, have to sacrifice some comforts. Users will not have curved screen sides, an in-screen fingerprint sensor, or a telephoto lens. On the other hand, it has a 5.8-inch all-screen display, excellent performance that is fast and smooth, and a stunning camera.

    Design

The Galaxy S10e has a ton of features. Although it might fall short when compared to the likes of S10 Plus, it still packs some serious power. One thing we have noted is that as the main flagships steadily get larger, there is a group of users who have steadily stuck to the smaller phones, perhaps since it could be handled more easily. It is the lightest of all the S10 models. As mentioned before, the S10e does not have an in-screen fingerprint scanner. Instead, the company decided to go ahead with a biometric fingerprint pad at the rear. This is located within an enlarged power button on the top-right side. One would not have thought this setup could be responsive, but Samsung has surprised us.

Aesthetically, the phone looks a flagship in every sense. It comes with a chromed aluminium case having elegantly rounded corners that we usually see in the Galaxy S models. There is no third camera, so you might find the rear having a narrower camera casing. There is no heartbeat sensor here either. The S10e is available in six colours – Prism Black, The pearlescent Prism White, Prism Blue, Flamingo Pink, Prism Green and Canary Yellow. The last two options are not available in the US and are reserved for other regions. The left side of the phone houses the volume rocker below which sits the Bixby button. You can now set it to activate other apps as well. At the bottom, you will find the 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone port, USB-C port, and speaker grille.

    Display

The 5.8-inch AMOLED display of the Galaxy S series is present here as well. The crisp details, rich colours, and vibrant display all make it a great experience. If you don’t appreciate the default colour balance, you can easily change it using the Vivid Mode. If you compare it with the iPhone XS Max, the display of these two models are almost on the same level, except that the XS Max does better with dark scenes. The S10e features Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on front and back. You will notice that the front has a punch-hole in the top-right corner for Infinity-O’ display. While it is noticeable, it does not stick out very much.

    Performance and Battery

The Samsung S10 phones are among the first to showcase the new Snapdragon 855 chipset. The phone has a 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage, which is more than enough in most cases. You can multi-task, swap apps, and do so much yet hardly notice any lag. If you do need more space, you can always use a MicroSD card. The phone can keep up with all your gaming requirements, even if you play heavy-duty ones, such as Fortnite and more. One thing you might hear is that playing such games could lead to battery loss and even heat up the phone.

Coming to the battery, the S10e supports a 3,100mAh battery which is large enough to last you through the day. With regular use, such as browsing, chatting, and some music, this should last you quite some time. You can use the 15W fast charging to recharge. Although it is not the fastest-wattage charging out there, it does its job. In the latest news, the S10e can now charge other wireless devices itself thanks to a new feature called Wireless PowerShare.

    Wireless PowerShare

The idea behind this is that you can use your Galaxy S10e to wirelessly charge other devices that have Qi-enabled charging. All you need to do is to place the second device near the rear of the S10e. While it does work, the charging speed is quite low. This means you cannot use the phone as you transfer charge.

    Samsung Galaxy S10e Camera
    Samsung Galaxy S10e Camera

    Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S10e features two rear-facing main cameras. One of them is the dual-aperture f/1.5-2.4 12MP main camera while the other is a 16MP f/2.2 ultrawide shooter. The former comes with OIS for smoothing out shaky footages. Unfortunately, users will have to accept the lack of telephoto lens. However, thankfully, it still retails the wide and ultrawide sensors. Regardless, the S10e still is a step ahead of Samsung Galaxy S9 which was released with a single dual-aperture shooter. The main camera has a 77-degree field-of-view while the ultrawide has 123-degree FOV allowing you to take in a lot more.

In the bright sunlight, you will notice that the photos come out stunning. In fact, it is even better than the ones taken with iPhone XS Max and Huawei Mate 20 Pro. On the other hand, the interior images don’t do nearly as well. Night photography is currently ruled by Google Pixel 3 and the S10e needs to come a long way before it can compete in this space. The ultrawide lens can be used for panoramas, allowing you to capture more context.

    Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy S10e is a perfect-sized phone that users would be able to use with one hand. The fact that Samsung’s interface works even better in a smaller frame is an additional advantage. With Android 9 Pie out of the box with One UI, you can be sure that the phone is an excellent option to consider.
